NCBW Launches 2025 InnovATEBIO Leadership Institute
Fourteen U.S. community college and K-12 bioscience instructors from across the United States have begun the second InnovATEBIO Bioscience Leadership Institute (BLI), an 8-month professional development program to prepare the next generation of biotech workforce development leaders.

NCBW and Forsyth Tech Participate in NSF Ate Principal Investigators Conference October 23-24, 2024
Russ Read, Jason Gagliano, Tony Brown, Victoria Ferrell and Cheryl Burrell joined 850 NSF ATE grantees and their project partners to share innovative approaches and expertise at the ATE PI conference, particularly in the areas of developing industry partnerships to advance workforce development in laboratory skills, cybersecurity, and Biomedical Emerging Technology Applications (BETA) skills.

2024 BETA Skills Industry Fellows featured on NC Biotech Center website
Six instructors from across the U.S. shared lessons learned during their eight-week BETA Summer Industry Fellowship. Host companies included Pfizer, Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM), Novex, and Javara Research.

InnovATEBIO released a report of the June 26-27, 2023 Envisioning the Next Bioscience Workforce national summit which convened 300 participants from education, industry, workforce development, and government.

More than 30 community college faculty, prospective industry adjunct faculty, and HR professionals participated in the Industry Bridge to Faculty (IB2F) workshop on February 29, 2024 at Alamance Community College and sponsored in conjunction with the NSF ATE InnovATEBIO Center, the NC Biotechnology Center, and NCLifeSci.

NSF Director Sethuraman Panchanathan joined First Lady Dr. Jill Biden on January 26 to launch the Piedmont Triad Regenerative Medicine Engine, recipient of the inaugural U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Engines Program award to provide an innovation ecosystem to stimulate workforce development, jobs, and economic growth. The award provides up to $15 million for two years and up to $160 million over 10 years.
